Martyr

Another week has come and gone. I am making some positive changes this week-- I began the South Beach diet again-- I did this back in 2004. It worked for me. I was able to maintain the lost weight until 2008 when my Mom passed away-- so, it has been 5 years and I need to drop 30 pounds (last time was only 20...) I am on day 4-- and it is going mostly well. I really love breads and desserts and pasta..... can't have any of that for 2 weeks. So, I am eating 2 scrambled eggs and 2 pieces of turkey bacon for breakfast... a snack in the morning -- I must confess I am not supposed to have fruit -- and not sure about yogurt, but I was not about to toss my greek yogurt-- and this is healthy yogurt right? So, once I am out of it I will go to the SB recommendations.. lunch I have been eating salad and then a healthy snack.. .and then salad for dinner. This go around I realize I like a lot more veggies and feta cheese so my salads have been quite tasty!. I was able to purchase a mini George Foreman from Kohls-- it was on sale and I had $10 Kohls cash-- I only paid $5 for it!! And--- I have coco powder coated almonds- and they are safe too! So still get my mini chocolate fix. Did you know ricotta cheese with some lemon and vanilla is quite satisfying? As is sugar free jello?!! Oh-- and I was able to exercise all 5 days! YAY ME!!!

Went to FHE on Mon. It was on the Myers/ Briggs personality test. I am ISFN-- a Nurturer. Big surprise right? It was fun... still have yet to really get out of my shell and MEET people, but I am trying! (I stands for introvert)

My nephew Kamden turned 7! WOW!!! He got enough Angry Bird wall decor to plaster his whole house I think. Good luck to my sis in lining it all up :-)

Saturday at the spa I got to perform my first Native Sun "wrap". It is done in a steam capsule. I think I did a good job. The lady seemed to like it. It was fun to do!!! YAY! Now I am trying to learn a clay wrap and I HATE IT. The plastic and clay get all over.... it is awkward... grr. I just need lots of practice.

Got a rebate on my credit card-- I bought season 1 and 2 of this:

My brother introduced me and I think I will really like it. I don't have internet at home and so this is the "only" way to see it!

I watched got the Cranford series at costco for this weekend. It was pretty good. My only issue with "era" films is how lame "the Kiss" is. So, in honor of it turning into February this next week I will show you the best kiss ever-- from North and South

A Wedding and good times

L-R Clarissa, Tawnya and me-- waiting for the couple to get a few family pics done before the friends pics. They were roommates with Carrie in Holladay --which is where I met them!

Carrie!!! She chose saphire blue, black and silver as her wedding colors. I got to play with  my camera and--voila! So pretty!

Carrie and Dave Anguiano-- Mt. Timpanogos

Carrie and Jen- met at UCCU for college jobs in Sept of 1997-- that's a long and wonderful friendship!

Eoff family!! Waiting for the goodness found at Bruges Waffles and Frites

I am a hot chocolate LOVER-- and this is the BEST EVER!!! (Look the owner of Bruges is in the background!! He is so nice!)
I really had a lovely time in UT. I got in on Thursday--Heather and Graeme picked me up. He wasn't feeling the best so he missed school-- or was he clever enough to say he wansn't feeling well so he could spend more time with me?!! hmm.. We went to Becky's for lunch. Last time I will see that house as she is moving in another week!!! Then we went to the Eoff home in AF... and then I got to meet up with Carrie for manicures! So FUN! I usually don't do manicures because I have to keep my nails so short for work, and the color never lasts! We got shellac polish and I LOVE IT!!! I may have to do this more often! Then Carrie took me to her house where I got to say hello to her family (love them) and meet her fiance' Dave and his kids-- they are all wonderful! Then, time to go back to my brothers for dinner with them and Darlene. Then my friends Anji and Christy came to play games!!! We played Ugg Tect. It was quite fun! We had fun. My brother thinks they should go to his house more often to play games even with out me there. hmmnn

Friday was the wedding day-- I left at 9 and didn't get home until 9:30? A long day, but so fun. It was FREEZING!! But I had fun watching the couple take pictures and even helped a "snow effect" by yanking on a tree so the snow would fall on to them. I hope that pic turned out!! We had a YUMMY luncheon at Tucanos. I love that place.... and then I helped set up the reception. It really was a great day. So happy for Carrie.

Saturday-- BRUGES-- that place was AMAZING!! It is a little "hole in the wall" place in SLC. (They have one in Sugar House too-- and up in Park City at the Canyons). As you see from the pics there really  isn't anywhere to sit-- some tables outside, but in 10-20* I don't think so. Belgium waffles are dough based instead of batter based....I had a waffle with chocolate melted on the inside, fresh strawberries and creme. TO.Die.For.....and then hot chocolate-- I really think that was just melted Belgium chocolate, whole milk, and creme...I loved it. Puts Starbucks hot coco to SHAME! Needless to say no need for dessert the rest of the day....and we didn't eat lunch either. It doesn't look big, but totally filling. I need to go back. Soon.
We went to see "Legends of the Guardians". Such a cute movie. I really like it. And then Drew, Heather, and I played another game..can't think of the title, but I really liked that game too. I forget how much I like playing games.

Such a fast trip but so good.

Spa update-- there isn't one. Forbes decided they could wait until February to tell us. DARN THEM!

A week of reading

I go through phases... watch movies...read books. This past week I spent reading books. I think I read 4.
Book 1-- of a trilogy. Loved it so I continued on:

Book 2. Loved this one too...although I will have to wait until the Fall to read the last  book in the series... I have a lot of questions that will have to be answered. I hope she doesn't do a rush job--(Like in Mocking Jay...)

A lovely historical fiction about the Scofield Mine explosion. Well it really doesn't talk much about the explosion more of a-- what times were like and what a mining camp is like. I liked it

I also read a book from the library, that I can't remember now. ah well. I did stay up until almost 1 last night finishing that last book. Shame on me. I got a nap today :-)

Monday I went to FHE and Thurs I went to Institute. Both were fine. Well FHE was pretty lame. I wish more people (guys) would come. Good thing I can go to institute for myself and learn otherwise it would be a bust too. I would just like to have a few friends to go out with.... Keep trying keep trying.

I met with the First Counselor of the Mesa Temple. I was hoping to be a temple worker...but with the Gilbert Temple opening at the end of the year everyone has the same idea. There are no openings for a female temple worker. I guess that is a nice problem to have. I will just have to go and be a patron more often.

Next week stay tuned: I will have gone to UT for a friends wedding... and I find out if the spa is a 5 star spa. My guess is yes as Forbes is coming on Wed to do a photo shoot of the spa! (Perhaps I will have to jump into photos as they just want the facilities. How lame is that?!) Anyhow....we find out Tues and I am super excited.

A New Year a New ME?

We made it to 2013-- kind of crazy.
I thought I would have to work New Years Day so I made no plans for New  Years Eve....so, I did laundry, watched movies, and went to bed. I didn't have to work so I got to sleep in! Then went to my sisters for the day. It was fun.
I took my sister to my Resort work party. We ate some YUMMY food. I even got dressed up! And..didn't take a single picture! What is wrong with me! Ah well...the party was fun as far as work parties go. I didn't win any of the prizes....Back to the food-- Wild Horse Pass has the only 5 star restaurant in AZ- Kai. Then they have a nice one called Ko Sin. We ate food from BOTH places! YUMMY. I had buffalo steak, prime rib, kobi beef sliders, shrimp... the hors d'oeuvres were excellent too-- coconut shrimp, a spicy cheese/ meet quesadilla, a risotto cheese puff-- you get the idea awesome food was happily consumed. I love to eat good food. Makes me happy.
I started a new class at church today-- family history. I have NO idea what I am doing. I hope to learn something and not just be overwhelmed the entire time. Dad sent me a thumb drive of some info--need to look at that. So sad Mom passed away and took her knowledge with her. Not sure where she was at or what she got done. sigh.
I thew away  most of my candy last night... my goal is a cup of hot coco-- and try to avoid eating too much junk. I really would like to lose 30 pounds. There I said it to all of you so now you can help me be good! I am doing better at exercising :-) yay for me! Small steps!
