Twilight

I have done my part of adding to Stephanie Meyer's wealth. I am sure I will see the movie again-- all in the hopes of seeing the next 3 books put up on the big screen. I liked the movie. I knew it would not do the book justice-- I was right. BUT I felt like the actors did a decent job with their characters. I was a little disappointed in the meadow scene--but it is Hollywood. So-- it is what it is an enjoyable movie. I will still prefer the books more.

Thursday night I got to go and see the 5 Browns in concert. When I bought the tickets I paid no attention to where the concert was-- I just knew it was East of Dallas.... how about 2 1/2 - 3 hours away! SHEESH! We had to stop and eat... and so we were a little late. But when we got there, there were firetrucks all around. Apparently there was smoke coming from somewhere. The building was evacuated for some time. When we arrived people were just taking their seats! NICE... Oh- best of all since we had no idea where we were going we entered in the back--and got to talk to a few of the Browns! We were in jest asked if we wanted to come on stage and help them! The oldest sister could not attend due to a serious eye infection (She is even losing some eye sight!) We hope she gets better. The talent of these people!! AMAZING. Their hands moved so FAST. It was nice music. Relaxing. Enjoyable. I will have to get some of their music. The guy that was the "stand in" arranged almost all that was performed. TALENTED!!! They even did a ask questions about us for a few minutes after intermission thing. That was kind of cool.

That was the last of my concerts. I will get through Christmas... and then see what is next. (A new season of So You Think You Can Dance should be starting up!!!)

S Padre

I had a meeting in Brownsville, TX on Friday. Several things added to it being quite the trip.
Thursday when I flew in to Harlingen it was raining like crazy. I got my car (Ford Fusion-- I liked it.) and tried to follow the directions. Because it was dark and raining I had a hard time following them. I got some dinner (Wendy's) and kept driving knowing I needed to go south-- I went south. I decided I better ask for directions so I stopped and found out I was right, just keep on going. I finally get to Brownsville-- looking for my street exit and I never find it! Now I know I am close to Mexico so I stop at a grocery store. I was in little Mexico for SURE! I got my face soap (that I knew I had left at home..) and ask for directions. The kid had no idea so I asked the pharmacist. She told me how to get where I was going -- and the street I needed was NOT the one on my info sheet! I am driving around (thankfully the rain had stopped.) and still not seeing my hotel. I stop at Kohl's and I am only a block away from my hotel! YEAH.
I am in my room, getting ready for bed-- only to discover I had forgotten my contact solution. Hotels are supposed to have everything you need if you forget right?? Nope-- they can't help. I decide I DO NOT want to go back out so I throw the contacts away (only a week early! ARGH!!)
Didn't sleep real well as I just love my memory foam pillow and mattress.
Attempted to get to my work meeting early only to discover I had the WRONG address. Thankfully sister was able to call them and they called and got me there okay. Meeting was good. Learned a lot...glad I went.
Got to S. Padre Island--beautiful weather, nice beach...had a good stay there. On Sat. I wanted to walk the beach but it was SO windy it was a little sand storm out there. Well I did go out and take some pictures--- and I lost my coin purse. My 2 credit cards, license, and health insurance card were in there!!!! It was 11:00 and I would not get home until 8:30! What would I do? When I discovered this I was almost to an outlet mall (wanting to Christmas shop). I called the hotel-- and they did not have the purse. I drove BACK to the beach and looked around, but in that wind? (Oh- did I mention there was a guy bulldozing the sand?) Found nothing. Went to the airport and on the way there I saw a Wells Fargo open!!!! Because I felt that I should take my passport (in case I went to Mexico) I was able to withdraw money from my account!!!!! YEAH!!! I could get gas for my rental car and best of all!!!!!! I GOT TO EAT!!!!

End of the story-- after canceling my credit cards I got a call today-- Mr. Jason found my wallet today (?) at the BEACH! YES! He is mailing it to me tomorrow.

My lessons--1. Do not attempt to get off anti-depressants when traveling alone in an unknown place.
2. God does hear and answer my prayers! A miracle for me! YEAH!!!!

Annoyed

OKAY! We all know the Twilight movie is coming out soon. Who knows if it is even good. (Emily no comments.) SO-- they are having this meet and great the cast the next 2 weeks. Dallas is "lucky" enough to get to have Robert Pattinson come. Does Hot Topic NOT understand that THOUSANDS of girls want to meet him? Sheesh. They have 250 t-shirts and 500 wrist bands for this. SF had to cancel part of it...Today Dallas opened the mall earlier than the 6:00 AM and gave the bands...so anyone that got there at 5:45 was too late! WHAT IS THE POINT?!!!!!
Needless to say I was SUPPOSED to be able to take a niece and a girl from Moldovia to meet him, but NOPE! Too late. ARGH.. perhaps I am more upset than the girls! The movie tickets are already sold out too. This is LAME!Perhaps I will feel less annoyed after seeing the movie.

On a HIGH note-- I went to my first Single ADULT conference. When they said 31 to 99 they were not kidding! Thursday I went to the Temple-- I think I saw 40 women and 10 men.... of the men MAYBE 2 were within my age bracket. Friday was a little better, byt when I got to the activity they were playing 50's music.. and I was the youngest and not too many my age! I did get to dance with 2 guys my age. One all the way from Canada and the other from Louisianna.
Saturday-- much better-- 3 guys in my age range that I talked to! (I did get to play Rockband with 1 of them and I do best at the singing.) I learned that I cannot 2-step and talk at the same time.
All in all I had a good time, and will still find it strange to be at an activity with men/women in their 70's on up... of course when I get to go with Dad that will be its own experience.

Carrie Underwood

I got to take my niece and a friend of hers to the concert. We had a lot of fun. I was not really looking forward to the main part of the concert-- at times she is a little annoying to listen to on the radio--- but I was pleasantly surprised! She has such a powerful voice it was good to hear her live.
I REALLY enjoyed Little Big Town. I could have kept listening to them all night! It was a fun concert. Got home a little late... I was a little tired and cranky when I was lost while trying to get home, but we all got home safely and I was in bed before midnight.
The next event for me is going to a Singles conference. I will go. I will try to be positive. I just don't love going by myself. sigh.
In 2 weeks I go to south Texas for a conference. I am looking forward to that. I am hoping to fit horseback riding on the beach into my budget.
Work is good. My boss broke her arm so she is there 1/2 days. Work is picking up so that is GOOD news!
